Dictation app comparison
Aqua VoicevsWispr Flow
Are you mainly creating new text, or revising a draft with your voice?
Aqua Voice and Wispr Flow both insert dictated text across desktop apps. Evaluate the draft you get, the settings that shape it and the way you correct it afterward.

Consider Aqua when selection-based voice editing and explicit writing instructions are central to your workflow. Consider Flow for automatic dictation cleanup, app styles and its meeting notetaker. Include VoiceSnap Pro when you also want a personal voice-note library with reminders.
About this comparison
Written by VoiceSnap Pro from the official sources linked below. This is a product guide, not an independent review or an accuracy benchmark. Capabilities can vary by platform, language and account.
Which workflow fits?
Consider Aqua Voice when…
You want to revise selected text by speaking, or you have clear writing rules to express through Custom Instructions when your plan includes them.
Consider Wispr Flow when…
You want cleaned-up dictation across apps, vocabulary and app styles, plus a meeting workflow in the same product.
Consider VoiceSnap Pro when…
You need text input across desktop apps and a separate place to record, find and revisit personal ideas with reminders.
Compare the actual workflow
The two named tools are the main comparison. VoiceSnap Pro is included as another option where its workflow fits.
Shaping a new draft
- Wispr Flow
- Automatic cleanup and app-specific styles[5]
- VoiceSnap Pro
- Punctuated text after releasing the shortcut, with fillers and corrected slips removed by default; you edit the rest
Revising selected text
- Aqua Voice
- Edit Mode rewrites a selection from your spoken instruction; version and field limits apply[2]
- Wispr Flow
- Evaluate the editing controls available in your installed version
- VoiceSnap Pro
- Manual editing; AI actions apply to saved notes and dictations, not selections in another app

Connection requirement
Try creating and revising as two separate tasks
A smooth first draft is only part of writing. Start with a new message, then make a change to an existing one: replace a date, shorten a sentence or fix a name. Record how much selecting, speaking and checking each task requires.
Aqua documents Edit Mode for selected text in desktop version 0.16.18 and later. It excludes browser address bars and search fields, and falls back to dictation for selections over 6,000 characters. Test inside your real editor; a short editable paragraph and a full document are different cases.[2]
Give style rules a concrete test
Write down the output you want before changing settings: one greeting, two short paragraphs, a specific spelling convention and a sign-off. Dictate the same idea in email and chat, then check whether the differences match your intent.
Aqua’s Custom Instructions guide recommends examples alongside rules. Flow describes styles that vary by app. Neither setup is a guarantee that dates, numbers or specialist terms will always be correct; review those details before sending.[3][5]
Check context without making privacy assumptions
Context can be useful when a name or project term is already on screen. Compare a neutral sample with the context setting on and off. Then decide whether the improved output is worth sharing the information that setting uses.
Aqua’s FAQ describes optional Deep Context. Flow publishes distinct controls for context, training, cloud storage and local history. Read the current data policies for the exact product and account you will use; turning off storage is a separate decision from where transcription runs.[1][6]
Try it on your own work
Follow a message from first draft to final edit
Choose a message with a name, a date and a phrase you routinely rewrite. Use a neutral sample rather than private customer content for the first trial.
Dictate the message into both email and chat. Check names, dates, paragraph layout and any app-dependent style changes.
Change one detail in the existing draft. Try Aqua’s selected-text editing and the editing workflow you would actually use in Flow.
Repeat with your recurring vocabulary and preferred style settings. Measure the complete task, including checking and fixing the final text.
What to keep
Choose the workflow that handles both drafting and your common edits with the least review effort. Keep the settings that improve your text without introducing unwanted changes.
Where VoiceSnap Pro fits
VoiceSnap Pro combines push-to-talk text input with a searchable library for your own voice notes. Dictation lands in the focused field after you release the shortcut. Voice notes can keep their recording for playback, sync to your account and carry tags, folders and reminders.
VoiceSnap Pro does not rewrite text selected in another app, read screen context or automatically apply paragraph formatting; its automatic clean-up only removes filler words and corrected slips. Its custom AI actions work on saved notes and dictations. Compare it when text input plus a personal note library is the combination you want.
Download free and try every feature with 5,000 transcribed words across dictation and voice notes and 50 manual AI actions, given once with no expiry or reset. No card required. Pro is $9 per month for unlimited transcription and manual AI actions, subject to fair use, on up to 3 devices.
